We like to try to keep you informed of what is going on and try to stir up a bit of hype and excitement by way of the occasional newsletter. Of course if there is anything you wish to broadcast to the other players you may let me know and I will pass it on or you may use the forum over at www.burntisclean.co.uk/itsjustthewind

PLAYERS BIT

Who is playing?

For various nefarious reasons there will not be a full published player list available. You will have to wait and see who is playing on the day. Please don’t ask, trust no one.

Characters

We need plenty of time to sort out your character stuff and get you in the right frame of mind before the event and make sure everyone is on the right tack.

In order to fit everything together and try to get a bit of personal character involvement in the plot, we need your character ideas in the next couple of weeks. We really don’t want War and Peace, a simple job title and any major character traits and a quote.

For example

Mary Smith
Librarian. Shy, quiet librarian type. Will read everything possible and try to refer situations to those in books. Is quite knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects but she is just not very practical when it comes to actually doing stuff. When under extreme pressure may crack and take off glasses to revile beauty/strength/extreme malice.

Together we will then sort out a bit of back story and let you in on any information you may know.

If you have your costume sorted, a digital photo would also be great.

We also require your real home address. This is so we can send you an (in character) invitation and if you are lucky maybe some other junk mail. We could also do with any other important personal information like if you are a vegetarian, allergic to blood or on special medication for a delicate heart condition and can’t take any shocks.

Just in case something unfortunate happens to the first one, it is wise to have a good back up ready. See above.

Player Weapons

No you can not. Not even a little one. Yes you may bring them out of character and we may let you acquire them in the game.

Just to clarify – NO ONE STARTS WITH A WEAPON!

Please make sure you have familiarised yourself with the rules. They are quite straight forward, if you have any questions or queries let us know now rather than in the field.

Sleeping Arrangements

All players have to sleep in the cottage. There is plenty of room but you will need to bring bedding. It will be in character as much as feasibly possible. For those of you who need copious amounts of modern beauty products or the like, please leave such things in your car. There should be a bit of space for out of character bags and the like but please keep these to a minimum.

Payments

It’s a f*g and I am a whiney old whinge bag I know. Please ensure you complete your payments in a timely manner. Running these events takes time and money. Things need to be ordered, bits of things need to be stuck together, often with glue. Glue takes a time to dry, therefore if you don’t pay on time, the glue won’t dry and it will all fall apart.

Costume

A gentle reminder that we are running a 1972 English event not a 1970s San Francisco Fancy Dress event. Please no cheap afro wigs. Go and watch Life on Mars again for style advice.

If you are crewing, please bring what you can. A T shirt, shirt with massive collar, jeans or similar. No obviously modern trainers. Get round to your local charity shop and see what you can find. We will be providing as much kit as we can but is much easier to have something to build on top of rather than working from scratch, also you don’t know where our stuff has been.

Propage and set dressing

If anyone has access to an attic full of 70s gear and bits and bobs then let us know. We have a massive shopping/wants list and anything we can blag or borrow means there is more in the kitty to squander elsewhere. We are also more than willing to lend stuff to other groups in return. So please let us know if you have anything you are willing to lend.

Crew

We really want as many crew as possible for this one. There will be a varied range of NPCs available to play as well as the occasional life challenged entity. Please grab your friends and get them along too. We will look after you as best we can, with food and drink available. Please let us know if you are intending to come, so that we can get the appropriate amount of grub and gubbins.

Foody stuff

Food shall be provided for players and for crew. If you have any special dietary needs or are dead fussy, please let us know sooner rather than later so that we can get in a organic, probiotic, kosher, vegan, dairy free... oh and bring a plate!

The make up of make up artists

We have a couple of dedicated teams of make up artists, if anyone else has skills in make uppery (or would be willing to learn) and they would like to come along, let us know and we will see what we can do to assist you. There are a couple of different teams doing make up and effects so it will be a great learning opportunity and a chance to share skills.

Website updates

The website has had a minor update, a few new linky bits here and there. Try clicking on things and see what happens. More little updates will be happening every now and again, so keep your eyes on it. We hope to do a teaser photo shoot and have the results up and running by the end of the month.

I know it is often heartbreaking to leave a loved pet behind when you go to an event. But poor kitty would get squashed because he had no armour and little pipkin the mouse would stand no chance without some sort of protection...

Hello all larry here
just on the costume front the trainer issue can be easily rectified by popping down to matalan and buying a cheap converse rip off for the bargain price of 4 pounds. got a pair at the weekend and they look the dogs so far as the event is concerned. also DM's are a good option, but no crazy purple ones oxblood or black.
but matalan is the place to be...
