Burnt is Clean Newsletter – August 2007

Well here we are again. A further wedge of news, slander and disinformation. I take no responsibility for any medical advice issued or implied within this journal. This month the newsletter has been written backwards, however due to reversal technology techniques you won’t even notice.

Nixen Schizen – Aug 2007

Or whatever it was called. A top event and enjoyed by all those who made the distance with the sausage festival. We appreciate any feedback* and a big thanks to those who have posted their comments up on the forum. In case you are wondering, the Empire will not be striking back in the foreseeable future. However the evil count’s body was never found… the forks will be with you… always.

Really nice to see new faces, old faces and some new old faces.

Pictures of the event are up and posted, if anyone apart from Roy took photos then please send them on so I can post ‘em up. A wonderful caption contest is up and running, a £1m** prize for the best reply.

Another big thanks to all those who worked so hard to make the event what it was, a shambolic debarkle of role playing cheeky tongueness. Just the way we like it.

A shout out to Carrie the cook, who worked her socks off feed us the most delicious German spread, we will petition her to come and cook for us again. To the band who rocked and mucked in to crew. To Rob and Mark, our resident loons, to Jack, Will and Ronan for working so hard, Matt, Nathan and the rest of the transient crew.

Enough of the past now lets look to the future…

A Further Couple of Nights at the Mermaids Purse

Yes I know the imagination that goes into the titles of our events is dazzling.

A date has now been set at 12-14 October 2007 and I assure you that places will be going fast. As a winter event you will be able to wear your full finery and frockiest coat.
The event will take place back in old Blighty and features a devious plot of sinister and Machiavellian apparatus, far reaching political ramifications, mysterious enigmas, heroic confrontation on an epic scale and probably some bandits.

Player places are going to limited as per usual. I assure you that spaces are going to fill rapidly and will be filled strictly by who stumps up the cash first. If you miss a place then please come and crew for us. Crewing is free and is a darn good laugh.

You may now use the fabulous on line payment system to pay for this event www.burntisclean.co.uk/events and click on the google checkout thingy or you can send us a cheque. If you need further info then drop a line to theearl@burntisclean.co.uk
I know I keep hassling, but send your money now, we need it to buy toys.

Other bits and bobs

The Band
Another big thanks to the band, we hope to book them up again for the next one. You can visit their myspace thingy at www.myspace/muteonousfew and they hope to have a proper website up and running soon.

BiC website
If there is anything you would like to see on the website*** then let us know and we will see what we can do. The forum is still over run with Spaniards and anyone wishing to redress the balance then please assist. Or if we can’t beat them, lets join them. The character generator is working well with a 99.99% accuracy. And there may or may not be a new on line adventure for the next event.

Water
There seems to have been some confusion regarding the water situation at Caddihoe. I am assured that the water is safe to drink, however due to the previous problems that they have had during the floods when the pumps backed up and contaminated the supply, we have made the decision to tell everyone to bring their own water as a safety measure. Water is also available in the kitchen to anyone who has the common reason to ask.

Spoon fork madness
Also there is an issue regarding plates and cutlery. We provide excellent cuisine and feel that it not too unreasonable to ask that you bring your own cutlery and plate. Washing up is your own responsibility. Plates and utensils do not have to be historically accurate, something plain will suffice. If for any reason you forget your plate then do please ask to borrow one, if you agree to clean up afterwards I am sure no one is going to begrudge you a loan.

Ranting and b*t*hin’
If you have any problems or queries then please bring them to our attention at your earliest convenience so that they can be sorted out. Nuff said.

Cheap guns
A friend of mine has a load of shootas going cheap or even bang if you are lucky (ba dum tsih!), I am trying to get hold of a catalogue from him and sort out what is on offer. You can contact him at allthingsblackandpowdery@yahoo.co.uk - say we sent you and give him grief.

Photo DVDs
Roy has produced a limited DVD of the previous event 3-5 Nov 2006, this is the raw photos without Roys magic lovin’. These can be obtained from roy.smallpage@googlemail.com etc Please note this new email as his old one is deceased. As for photos of the last event please contact Roy and inform him that you would be interested in a super snazzy dvd, this way we can kick him into pulling his finger out and making us a piece of ostentatious jazz art.

Crewing
Please come and crew for us. If you are unsure of what type of events we run and want a taster, then come and crew for us. There are always parts for nameless faceless canon fodder and more profound characters with a bit depth to suit your preferences. So either way, come on down, you know you want to. We have plenty of spare kit and can festoon**** you in some fetid finery and equip you with amiss arms.

Possible spin off event
We are looking at running a further pir*te caper next year, that’s in the bag, sorted, safe. However we are also exploring the potential of running a special one off 70’s horror event at Caddihoe next year, kind of a party at a deserted cottage out in the woods where it all starts to go a bit wrong… we are looking at a winter event and would just like to gauge if anyone would be interested in this kind of nonsense. It is very early days in its conception but could prove to be fun. Let us know if you would be up for it, it will definitely be a bit different from the norm.

Spam
I have worked really hard to get the Bic newsletter spam free. If you are still receiving this and you would prefer not to, please let me know and I will remove you. This is not the work of some evil corporation but a amateur role playing club trying its darnest to promote itself and survive.

Any other business
If you have any other stuff that you would like to add to the next newsletter then let us know.

To conclude
Book and pay now for the next event. Hassle everyone you know to crew for us. Have fun.

Thought for the month
That, that is, is.

* As long as it is good and to our faces
**That’s a whole one metre of money, in two pence pieces, works out to be 76p or goods to that value ish.
*** Apart from THAT – email me and I will send you some links to THAT – you beast.
**** festoon – what a fine word, see if you can use it once a day for the next week
